Car Title Agreement

Car Title Agreement

Below you will find information on the most common documents to expect when buying a new vehicle: • Buyer order or sales contract: This is the basic sales contract. The seller must provide you with a copy of the contract completed and signed at the time of purchase of the car. This is very important because it is necessary to register your vehicle and apply for a license plate. Make sure it reflects the terms you have negotiated with the seller. If the seller made an oral promise during the negotiations, be sure to add it in writing before signing anything! • Financing contract or instalment payment contract for retail trade: If you finance your vehicle through a dealer, the law in Georgia requires that the agreement be written in a “retail rate contract”. The seller must give the buyer a complete copy of this contract at the time of its signature by the buyer. Make sure there are no unfilled voids before signing.• Odometer Display Form: A written mileage display is required when a vehicle is purchased or sold or at the end of a rental agreement. The disclosure statement contains the buyer`s and seller`s information, basic vehicle information and the vehicle`s mileage at the time of sale. This requirement applies to both individual sellers and merchants. • Statement on the Rights of the Lemon Law: Under Georgian legislation, a trader must provide the buyer with a written statement of consumer rights, which explains the Georgia Lemon Law Act at the time of purchase or lease of a new vehicle. If you have paid for the new car in full and have not financed it, it will be sent to you when the title is issued. If you have financed the purchase of a car and the financing contract has created a right of pledge or guarantee on the car, the title lists all the holders of pledges or guarantees and the title will only be released to you once you have completed the agreed payments.

As an incentive, merchants usually offer free items or services to the buyer. Be sure to make a list of all these offers and make sure they are all included in the sales contract. These free items should have a zero amount in the agreement. If not, withdraw the amount and write zero ($0) next to it and subtract that amount from the total purchase….
